“TuID is the digital identity offered by the telecommunications utility ANTEL developed by our company INTERFASE based on our family of ISCERT solutions together with the ENTRUST® technological stack.”
By using TuID, a person can identify themselves securely on websites and also sign electronically with the same legal validity as a handwritten signature. That is to say, activities such as starting paperwork or purchasing a product or service, which before TuID were only carried out in person to ensure their identity, can now be done remotely and with the same levels of certainty that the person is who they say they are.
To guarantee a digital identity, 3 requirements must be met: something the person is, something the person has and something the person knows.
These 3 factors combined provide high levels of security in terms of authentication.
TuID therefore uses biometric features (something the person is), an app on a mobile phone (something the person has) and a PIN (something the person knows).
Organizations wanting to incorporate TuID secure authentication into their systems can do so, and if they have used standard authentication mechanisms, this can probably be done quickly and with only a few small changes to their current authentication system.
Many organizations already rely on TuID authentication, including many government agencies, universities and insurers.
During the pandemic and in lockdown situations, this solution allowed citizens to start paperwork from home and students to enrol on university courses.
Another very interesting aspect is that secure authentication enables the user to use their advanced electronic signature digital certificate stored in the cloud. You can therefore sign a document from your mobile phone or computer without having to print such document, sign with a handwritten signature and then deliver it to the requester. Remote advanced electronic signatures are an enormously practical and productive instrument for those who regularly sign documents, such as lawyers, notaries public and accountants. It is also practical for companies that receive many signed documents, such as when collecting signed pay slips with the employee's consent.
